STS 01/02 Certification: operate in European standard scenarios
Professional authorisation to operate in the specific category without individual approval.
What are STS 01 and STS 02?
STS (Standard Scenarios) are European standard scenarios established by EASA for professional drone operations in the specific category. They allow you to carry out medium-risk operations without the need for an individual operational authorisation, provided that the technical requirements and the pilot’s qualifications are met.
Operations in direct line of sight in populated areas, with full control of the operating area. Requires drones with C5 class marking.
Operations beyond line of sight in sparsely populated areas, with airspace observers or equivalent systems. Requires drones with C6 class marking.
Entry requirements:
- Be 16 years old
- A1/A3 certificate (mandatory)
- A2 certificate (recommended — if you do not hold it, the STS validates it automatically upon passing)

Frequently asked questions
Do I need the A2 to access the STS?
It is not mandatory. If you do not hold the A2, the STS exam includes the corresponding additional questions and, upon passing, you automatically obtain the validation.
Can I get certified only in STS-01 or only in STS-02?
Yes. You can choose one of the two scenarios or both, depending on your operational needs.
Where does the flight practice take place?
We have bases in Mallorca and Córdoba. Coming soon in Barcelona and Madrid as well.
What drones are needed to operate under STS?
STS-01 requires drones with C5 class marking. STS-02 requires drones with C6 class marking.
How many hours of practice does the exam include?
You can choose between a 2- or 4-hour practical flight pack with an instructor.
Does the STS authorise me to operate directly?
The certification qualifies you as a pilot. To operate, you also need your company to hold the corresponding operational declaration before AESA.
