STS 01/02 Drone Certification AESA

Professional authorisation to operate in the specific category without individual approval.

STS (Standard Scenarios) are European standard scenarios established by EASA for professional drone operations in the specific category. They allow you to carry out medium-risk operations without the need for an individual operational authorisation, provided that the technical requirements and the pilot’s qualifications are met.

Entry requirements:

• Be 16 years old
• A1/A3 certificate (mandatory)
• A2 certificate (recommended — if you do not hold it, the STS validates it automatically upon passing)

• Authorisation to operate in the specific category without individual approval
• Official theory exam on the AESA platform, webcam-supervised
• Practical flight exam with certified instructors: 2- or 4-hour pack
• Flight bases in Mallorca, Tarragona, Madrid and Córdoba
• Automatic validation of the A2 upon passing the STS if you do not already hold it

Regulated professional training exempt from VAT

Duration: 42 hours — 40 of theory and 2 of flight practice

The price depends on how many scenarios you need to certify and on whether you also book the theory training. If you have already covered the theory, choose the option without theory.

Included in every option:

• Official theory exam on the AESA platform, webcam-supervised
• In-person practical exam with certified instructors
• Automatic validation of the A2 upon passing, if you do not hold it

Flight practice: Flight bases in Mallorca, Tarragona, Madrid and Córdoba. 2- or 4-hour flight pack.

Requirements: A1/A3 certificate is mandatory and you must be 16 or older. The A2 is recommended but not mandatory.

Fees: No official fees: AESA exams are free of charge. The price covers the training, the study materials and the exam preparation.

Do I need the A2 to access the STS?
It is not mandatory. If you do not hold the A2, the STS exam includes the corresponding additional questions and, upon passing, you automatically obtain the validation.

Can I get certified only in STS-01 or only in STS-02?
Not quite. You can get certified in STS-01 alone, or in STS-01 and STS-02 together. What is not possible is certifying only in STS-02: every manoeuvre, skill and requirement of STS-02 builds on the competencies of STS-01, so you have to pass it first.

Where does the flight practice take place?
We have flight bases in Mallorca, Tarragona, Madrid and Córdoba.

What drones are needed to operate under STS?
STS-01 requires drones with C5 class marking. STS-02 requires drones with C6 class marking.

How many hours of practice does the exam include?
You can choose between a 2- or 4-hour practical flight pack with an instructor.

Does the STS authorise me to operate directly?
The certification qualifies you as a pilot. To operate, you also need your company to hold the corresponding operational declaration before AESA.
