Conversion from a national to a European certification
What are STS 01 and STS 02?
STS (Standard Scenarios) are European standard scenarios established by EASA for professional drone operations in the specific category. They allow medium-risk operations to be carried out without an individual operational authorisation, provided the technical requirements and the pilot’s qualifications are met.
Visual line of sight operations in populated areas, with full control of the operating area. Requires drones with a C5 class marking.
Beyond visual line of sight operations in sparsely populated areas, with airspace observers or equivalent systems. Requires drones with a C6 class marking.
Entry requirements:
- Be 16 years old
- A1/A3 certificate (mandatory)
- A2 certificate (recommended — if you do not hold one, the STS automatically grants it once you pass)
- Qualification to operate in the specific category without an individual authorisation
- Official theory exam on the AESA platform, invigilated by webcam
- Practical flight exam with certified instructors: 2 or 4 hour pack
- Bases in Mallorca and Córdoba — Barcelona and Madrid coming soon
- Automatic A2 conversion on passing the STS if you do not already hold it
Syllabus
- Advanced meteorology
- UAS performance
- Technical and human limitations
- Operational risk management
- Airspace and ATS coordination
- Emergency procedures

How does the process work?
- Online theory training: Access the materials and prepare for the theory exam.
- Theory exam on the AESA platform: Invigilated by webcam. With A2: 30 questions / 30 min. Without A2: 40 questions / 40 min (the A2 is granted on passing). 75% to pass.
- AESA theory pass certificate: A date is assigned for the practical exam.
- Choice of practical format: STS-01, STS-02 or both; a 2 or 4 hour flight pack.
- In-person practical exam: With certified instructors at our bases.
- Practical PASS submitted to AESA: Certification completed.
Qualification for the use of aeronautical radiocommunications in professional operations.
Management of operational permits and documentation for your company.
Do I need the A2 to take the STS?
It is not mandatory. If you do not hold the A2, the STS exam includes the corresponding additional questions and, on passing, you automatically obtain the conversion.
Can I get certified in STS-01 only, or STS-02 only?
Yes. You can choose either one of the two scenarios or both, depending on your operational needs.
Where does the flight training take place?
We have bases in Mallorca and Córdoba. Barcelona and Madrid coming soon.
Which drones are needed to operate under STS?
STS-01 requires drones with a C5 class marking. STS-02 requires drones with a C6 class marking.
How many practice hours does the exam include?
You can choose between a 2 or 4 hour pack of practical flight time with an instructor.
Does the STS authorise me to operate directly?
The certification qualifies you as a pilot. To operate, your company must also hold the corresponding operational declaration with AESA.
